Virginia Stahl's photoVIRGINIA STAHL

Virginia Stahl is currently the Vice President of Student Affairs at Scottsdale Community College, a position she has held since 1999. She began her career in community colleges by developing a store-front learning center for ABE/GED/ESL students. She has taught courses at community colleges in Illinois and Arkansas, and moved to Arizona in 1980. She began working in Maricopa Community Colleges in 1984. Her Bachelor's degree is in English, while her master's and doctorate are in higher education.

In 1988 Virginia moved to Scottsdale Community College as Associate Dean of
Instruction, and in 1996 became Associate Dean of Student Services.

In 1995, she was instrumental in forming an international education office to respond to the special needs of international students attending Scottsdale Community College. Since that time the program has expanded in services and programs to include intensive ESL programs, study abroad field trips, a speakers’ series, and many campus international events. Through the collaboration of faculty and staff, Scottsdale Community College has received two North American Mobility grants from FISPE and two consortium grants from ICEED. A highlight of her year is an annual study trip to the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, where Honors and Phi Theta Kappa students study at the university in the morning and participate in cultural activities in the afternoon and evenings. For the past six years, the students have visited Casa Hogar, a school and orphanage that has touched their hearts
